It’s hard to talk about Greanda Sailing over the past decade and the name Jacqui Pascall not pop up.

Jacqui and I meet at the recent World Cup Cricket 2007 games at the newly built Grenada National Stadium in Queen’s Park, St. George’s.

What a day it was! Spirits (read rum) were high in the Party Stands as New Zealand won the match against South Africa.

Jacqui was photographed hugging Mello the World Cup Cricket mascot (above).

Been There, Done That

Having lived and worked in Grenada for the past nine years, Jacqui is very much at home living in the islands as she was prior to this living onboard yachts. She started sailing in her early twenties firstly onboard the 120′ square rigged replica of Sir Francis Drakes Golden Hinde (pictured right).

Crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbean was a dream come true and the crew eventually delivered this museum ship to the World Expo in Vancouver in 1986. Make sure and ask Jacqui about that trans Atlantic voyage.

Jacqui has since then been involved in the yacht charter business, and she went on to crew on a number of luxury yachts in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Australian waters. After this she worked as a yacht broker in the UK.

Horizon Yacht – In Business, In Love

Returning to the Caribbean, she met her future husband James and they have established their own bareboat yacht charter company. Based at True Blue Bay Resort & Marina, Horizon Yacht Charters has grown from strength to strength over the seven years of operation.

With a dedicated team of Grenadian staff who ensure that all the fleet are highly maintained and customer service levels are excellent, this company has built a strong reputation in the industry.

Community – Giving Back

Her passion for sailing has been passed along to the young sailors in Grenada who attend the junior sailing program that Jacqui supports.

Through her commitment to the Grenada Sailing Association she has been able to encourage local events where racing in traditional wooden sailing sloops continues, especially during the annual holidays.

Jacqui feels very positive about the future of sailing in Grenada and the delightful waters of the Grenadines.

Though good practice and behavior is vital to ensure the longevity of the reefs and bays for all to enjoy she believes the island and her people will benefit immensely from yachting development with opportunities for all to enjoy.
