If you know anything about Grenada, you know that in December the beaches lose their tranquility as bigger waves pound the shores.

I happened upon this group of boys on Grand Anse Beach who wanted it no other way. It was entertaining to watch them, not to mention nostalgic.

Here is another Grenada Beach that very few know about. This is the first time this beach has ever been featured on Grenada Beaches website and we have Louise Francois from London to thank for that. Thanks Louise.

Secret Sea Front

You are at River Salle, St. Patrick’s going to Bathway Beach. From River Salle Roundabout take the Bathway exit. A few yards on you will meet the cemetery, turn right at the cemetery towards River Sallee school adjacent (lying near) to the cemetery.

Stay on that road and drive pass the school. Do not turn left or right. Remember – its a straight drive ahead until you reach a steep hill – go over the hill. Turn not left nor right but simply go straight over the hill. From there you will see a stunning cream and red country villa, drive towards it.

Once you have arrived at it’s gated garden with assorted plants and flowers, keep you eyes upfront. In the distance, you will see a glistening blue sea welcoming you. If you go a few yards on you may park the jeep at the entrance of the rocky grass road, flanked by coconut grove, mango, sapadollia trees; shrubs and butterflies of all kinds .

It’s a refreshing and pleasant walk down to where you will discover this wild and amazing sea front.
Oops, mind the cows.
Forgot – there’s an estuary, it’s Glassie, that’ the name.

Have a lovely, whatever it is you wish to do – fish, walk or otherwise. If lost, ask a local to show you Liva Calbash – if you have to then you are lost.

(What a view! The old Leper colony with Grand Anse in the background 1986)

Yes, I remember the Sandblast, and Grand Anse Beach, but my favorite beach was the BBC, as it was where we lived the building of the Airport.

I have many happy memories of the island. I was taken there as a child by my parents on the Geest Boats, Later in my 20’s I stayed at Westerhall Point with friends of my parents.

Most of all I enjoyed my time there in my 30’s when Grenada became my home for a few years, and I looked out every day across BBC Bay.
I swam with the shoals of fish, had BBQ’s on the beach and I walked there and talked there and sat and paddled and sunbathed and laughed and lived on that beach.

One day I hope I will take my son ( now 21 ) back to see the island where his father and I were so happy (He sadly died when my son was just 7)

Thank-you to the lovely people of Grenada for making two Scots so welcome, and sharing your magnificent Island with us.

3. Baileys Bacolet St David’s – Go between 11.am- 5.00pm, you will get a wonderful surprise between 12.00pm – 1:00pm
4. Pink Gin Beach St. George’s – Just lovely
5. La Tante Beach St. David’s – Nice and quiet, silver sand
6. Pearls Beach St. Andrews – Nice beach, bring lot’s of drinks, there aren’t any shops nearby.
7. Conference Beach St. Andrew’s – Silver sand, fat pork, and sea grapes. Enjoy nature!

It’s so sad I live in England now, I miss these Grenada Beaches soo much.

Paradise beach is lovely. We had such good fun we didn’t want the day to end. We walked all around the beach, played games, and we did a lot of swimming.

We also laid on the sand and relaxed, although a couple of us fell asleep. When half through the day we felt a little peckish (hungry) we went over to hardwood and ordered our dinner.

Dinner was perfect. And of all our drinks my favorite was the rum punch.

What a fantastic day we had. I always tell people about it, they tell other people, and we spread the the word about Paradise Beach.

We tell people its a must when they visit Carriacou.

I was not overly impressed with the Victory Bar at Port Louis Marina when I visited, but that might have more to do with the time I visited than with the place itself. I hooked up with my old high school crew one week night and we went there for drinks.

Maybe going there on a week night was not such a good idea. I normally like things to be hopping. Not too crowded, but just enough folks, and chatter to add some life to the place if you know what I mean. A little music doesn’t hurt either.

Well it was far from lively. But that certainly did not stop us from having an awesome time. All you need are cold Carib Beers, some food from their grill, good friends, and you’re set.

Both the bar, and it’s surroundings are beautiful, even at night that stood out. I can only imagine what it must look like in daylight. I think you will be impressed. The Victory Bar is part of the spectacular Port Louis, a multi-million dollar luxury resort and Marina, that’s the brainchild of British Entrepreneur Peter De Savary.

The bar sits on the edge of the lovely marina, in the Lagoon Rd community. It’s right off the main road you travel from Grand Anse to St. George’s, so it’s easy to find.

No doubt as the Port Louis brand spread, I expect this area to become very popular.

A quick run down on some other observations:

• Prices are a tad bit steep, so keep that in mind.
• Mens restroom was clean, as was the entire the bar, that’s always good
• No complaints about the staff.
• I did not eat but the guys enjoyed the food from the Grill
• Mounted flat screen TV with international sports channels

So basically the Victory Bar has all the markings of a fun place, it was just our luck, maybe, that we went there on a very slow night. I plan to give them a second shot, maybe for a mid afternoon snack, lunch, or on a weekend.

A Secret Grand Anse Beach Restaurant

You won’t read about this Grand Anse Beach Restaurant in any Grenada travel brochure, and it won’t be on your hotel’s top list of Grenada Restaurants… heck they probably don’t even know it exists. But this restaurant, ran by a group of women on the old St. George’s University (SGU) campus, on Grand Anse Beach, serves up some of the yummiest Grenadian food you will find anywhere on the island. No frills and fluffs, no garnish and varnish, just plain old Grenadian food just the way their Moms, Grand Moms and Auntie thought them to cook it.

I’m talking about :

• Curry Chicken, Curry Beef
• Beef/ Chicken Roti
• Brown Chicken Stew,
• Stewed Fish, Baked Fish, Fry Fish
• Pumpkin, Callaloo, Vegetables
• Fried plantains
• Macaroni Pie
• Rice and Peas
• Oildown (Grenada’s national dish)
• And the usual international suspects (sandwiches, fries, pizza, etc.)

Are you hungry yet?

Warning!

Now this is no place for a romantic dinner, in fact they don’t do dinner. There is nothing fancy about the place itself, its open air but covered. It’s right smack on the beach with a lovely view of St. George’s and up the North West Coast.

If you looking for something with all the bells and whistles don’t waste your time. All you will get here is tasty Grenadian Cuisine the way Grenadians prepare and serve it… and a few international items if you must have that.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the ladies close up shop during the summer when the students are on vacation. Remember that when traveling to Grenada in the summer time.

Just wanted to make that point.

So when you are on Grand Anse Beach and the hunger bites, head to the Medical School Campus. Its between Coyaba Hotel and Aquanauts Dive Shop. You can ask for the Thomas Sisters, three of the women who do their magic in the kitchen. Or you can ask for Ms. Rosie, another master cook… she’s been there the longest. They each run their own independent eatery under the same roof.

A Little History

Before the SGU Medical School moved from Grand Anse Beach to the new campus in True Blue, this was the main campus for all students, and the restaurant was established specifically to service the medical students. I can remember late afternoons when all tables will be packed for dinner, lively chatter everywhere, and captivating aroma that will make your mouth water.

Oh and if you are wondering whether there is a connection between the Med School and the US Invasion, the answer is Yes. Back in the Regan Era in 1983 US troops invaded Grenada to rescue about 21 students studying at this very campus of the St. George’s University School of Medicine.

After the main campus moved to True Blue the women continued to cook for the general public and the few remaining staff at the old campus.

I’ve been eating at that place since I was in High School. Every Friday we would hit the beach, and we look forward to the Pizza from Ms. Rosie (yes they can make Pizza too) as much as the we looked forward to beach. I still think that the best Pizza I’ve had in Grenada was from this wonderful Grand Anse Eatery, even better than Ricks Cafe. That was a long, long time ago but I’m sure it’s still tasty as ever.

One of the best beaches in Grenada. Located in the Point Salines area, close to the International Airport. It is ideal for a midday dip or a midnight stroll.

With a restaurant and bar area, Dr. Groom’s beach meets the everyday needs of the vacation enthusiast: food, relaxation, sunshine, clear blue waters and white sands.

Secluded as it is from the hustle and bustle of the city, Dr. Groom’s is indeed a refreshing haven that is guaranteed to enrich the Grenada experience.

This beach was both picturesque and charming without losing the local and laid back style. Despite being infamous for being the most tourist ridden spot, this St George’s stretch is so far the most stunning and mesmerizing beach I’ve ever seen. I thoroughly recommend it to all in Grenada.

Paradise Beach… Is it Worth Missing The Ferry?

We heard so many good things about Paradise Beach that we were willing to risk missing our Ferry just to spend a few minutes on this Carriacou Beach.

Our only regret while visiting Carriacou was not having more time to spend on Paradise Beach.

After an exciting morning on a Carriacou Tour, followed by a delicious lunch at Callaloo’s Restaurant, it was almost time to catch the Osprey Ferry back to Grenada.

After lunch we grab a bus in Hillsborough, and within 10 minutes we were strolling down paradise beach, sand between toes, looking for the perfect spot, a spend a few minutes.

Paradise Beach is all Yours

One thing I can say with absolute certainty about Paradise Beach, and all Grenada Beaches for that matter is that on a weekday you would have the beach almost entirely to yourself.

I counted one couple and two teenagers, add them to the three of us and that’s seven people sharing about a one mile long strip gorgeous Caribbean white sand. I don’t know about you but that felt like a good deal.

The contrast between the green shade trees, the white sand, and the turquoise waters is paradise beach signature. Add the islands just off shore, and the mound capping off the south end, and paradise beach will always be a winner in any beach lovers book.

Enjoying what little time we had on Paradise beach, I flirted with the idea of missing our ferry. And that was actually a nice thought. After all who won’t mind getting left in Paradise. But alas we had to rush back.

While waiting for the bus we happened upon this cute little establishment selling local crafts, and casual wear. It is located right off the main road at paradise beach. The setup is out of a shipping container. Quite ingenious if you ask me.

Hardwood Bar

Right across from the Souvenir Gift shop is the Hardwood Bar and Restaurant. And although we did not get a chance to drop in, I can tell from the action on the patio, that Hardwood Bar looks like a fun spot on paradise beach.

Panicking… No Bus in Sight

Okay, it’s been like 10 minutes waiting and still no bus… clock is ticking away and my Ferry is no doubt about to leave without us. Assurance from the attendant at the gift shop that a bus will soon arrive is not helping at all… I am really getting nervous now!!

Empty Road… where’s that Damn Bus!!

Finally, a bus stopped, it’s Norbert our Carriacou Tour Guide, but he’s headed in the opposite direction. I had a quick decision to make:

• Go with Norbert – that meant a guaranteed seat on a bus, but lost of valuable time traveling further south before he heads back to the Ferry.
• Gamble – continue to wait of a bus headed towards the Ferry that is not already filled.

Well I was never a good gambler… we went with Norbet (it helped that he was confident he will make it back in time). So we got an unexpected glimpse of the south side of the island-although to be honest my mind kept flashing images of our ferry pulling out just as we made it back to the jetty.

Luckily that did not happen. But we sure cut it close. Norbert dropped us off, and within 3 minutes the Osprey Ferry departed… Phew!!! If Norbert had made one more stop we probably would not have made it. No room for error!!!

Feeling cheated (through no ones fault) I vow to make my next Carriacou day trip a Paradise Beach day trip. We had a great time here (just too short) and I think so will you.

Magazine Beach

Magazine Beach goes by many names. I’ve heard it called Rex beach, the Beach at Rex Grenadian, and Aquarium Beach. Whatever you choose to call it won’t not change the fact that it is one of the best of all Grenada Beaches, and one of my favorite.

Go to Magazine Beach if you are looking for no disturbances, but still want to be close to the action. Depending on the day of the week, or time of day you get the feeling that Magazine Beach is all yours.

If you are a guest at the Rex Grenadian hotel this will probably be your default beach. If you are not a guest expect to share the beach with a few guests from this hotel and even fewer locals.

Refreshments

On the southern end of Magazine Beach is Aquarium Restaurant. That just solved all your food concerns. Aquarium is one of Grenada’s best Restaurants. They also have an endless supply of cocktails and cold Carib beers (local favorite) for the occasion, served from their nice beach bar. Just don’t go swimming if you had one too many.

Beach Activities

Catching a wave on a kayak and snorkeling the nearby reefs are two fun activities at Magazine Beach. Sunday is a spacial day and one of the best days to visit Magazine Beach; thats of course if you like Barbecue. The Aquarium restaurant puts on a beach barbecue and all are invited.

Getting To Magazine Beach

• Magazine Beach is located behind the hill at Point Salines International Airport
• Follow the Road towards the Airport, and continue until you arrive at Aquarium Restaurant. Or you can access the beach higher up via Rex Grenadian Hotel area.
• Public transport is not an option. Rent a car and drive there yourself, or take a taxi.

Convenient Hotels

The Rex Grenadian Hotel occupies the northern section of Magazine Beach and is the closest hotel. La Source Hotel is also another nearby option; it is less than a mile away.

Several other options exist within 3 – 5 miles of the beach, to see them browse our Grenada Hotel Accommodations directory.

Pink Gin Beach

Pingouin Beach a.ka Pink Gin Beach gets its name from the fashionable UK cocktail which consist of Gin and a dash or two of Angostura Bitters. It’s the English way to do Gin.

One look at the pinkish sand on Pink Gin beach, and you will see that this beach was appropriately named. Pink Gin boasts a peaceful atmosphere, and pristine waters. Very attractive and fun for singles, couples, or the whole family.

Pin Gin beach is south of the popular Grand Anse Beach and Morne Rouge Beach. In fact it is the furthest south of all the popular Grenada Beaches. While you will share this beach with other guests from nearby hotels, you won’t find that many locals as say Grand Anse Beach. So if you are looking for more local interaction you will be better of at one of the beaches higher up.

Getting To Pink Gin

• Pink Gin beach is located behind the hills at Point Salines International Airport
• Follow the Road towards the Airport, and continue until you arrive at La Source Resort
• Public transport is not an option. Rent a car and drive there yourself, or take a taxi.

Convenient Hotels and Restaurant

Want to live close to Pink Gin beach or better yet on Pink Gin beach? You have several hotels within 3 – 5 miles of the beach. Two of the closest hotels are La Source Hotel and Rex Grenadian Hotel. In the case of La Source (pictured to the left), it’s right on Pink Gin Beach. For more nearby hotels browse our Grenada Hotel Accommodations directory.

Further up the road before you get to Pink Gin Beach is Aquarium Restaurant, a favorite among Grenadians and visitors alike. They feature a good selection of cocktails, good seafood, and a Sunday beach barbecue. Drop in for a light snack, or lunch to complement your day on Pink Gin Beach. Here’s what else I think about Aquarium Restaurant.

You should also explore the restaurants and cafes at the nearby hotels, or even check with your hotel to see if they offer a picnic basket service.

Is Morne Rouge Beach the Best Grenada Beach? I certainly don’t think so. My favorite is Grand Anse Beach. But Many visitors prefer the tranquil turquoise waters, white sand, and natural setting that defines Morne Rouge Beach over all other Grenada Beaches.

Morne Rouge Beach, also know as BBC Beach used to be one of the most popular beaches with locals, especially on public holidays. Today it’s still very well know and always gets the thumbs up, but it plays second fiddle to Bathway Beach, on Grenada holidays.

of course this can be a big plus in your favor if you are looking for a more quiet relaxing beach experience.

Have kids? Then Morne Rouge might definitely be a safer choice over Grand Anse Beach. Tucked away in a bay, this beach is normally quite clam, and great place for the young ones to swim.

Getting To Morne Rouge Beach

• It is not as accessibly as Grand Anse beach, because unlike it’s sister beach it isn’t close to the main road.
• If you are already on grand anse beach and want to visit Morne Rouge Beach, then just walk southwards all the way to the end of Grand Anse Beach and go over the hill and you will be right smack on Morne Rouge Beach.
• If you have a car follow the main road towards Grand Anse Beach, turn down one of the side streets leading to Spice Island Mall, go pass the Mall, continue on the road towards Cinnamon Hill hotel, and that road ends at Morne Rouge Beach.

Convenient Hotels and Restaurant

Morne Rouge Beach is smack in the tourist district if we can call it that, so finding proper hotel accommodations is easy. Two of the closest are Gem Holiday Beach Resort, and the Flamboyant hotel. There are many other fine hotels and guest houses within 1 – 2 mile of Morne Rouge Beach, take a look in our hotel accommodations directory to find one that delights you.

Looking for nearby restaurants? Grand Anse, True Blue and Lance Aux Pines areas, all are within 3 miles of Morne Rouge Beach, and boasts some of Grenada’s best places to eat. Here are some of my favorite Grenada Restaurants.

Also don’t overlook the option of packing a picnic basket for a day on Morne Rouge Beach. I’m sure your hotel will be happy to prepare a basket with some choice goodies just for the beach.

1. Grand Anse Beach

You will be hard pressed to find a more spectacular beach anywhere in the world, no kidding … and am not biased, that’s according to the many travel writers and visitors that swim, stroll, and soak up the sun, on this beach each and every year.

2. Morne Rouge Beach (BBC Beach)

Most locals refer to this one as BBC beach, am sure there is a story behind the name but I never bothered to inquire. Probably got the name from the BBC night club that once operated on the beach.

Morne Rouge Beach like Grand Anse beach lies in the heart of the hotel district, in the south of Grenada.

Holidays aside, this is one beach you can have all to yourself. It’s an interesting contrast of Lush green trees, white sands, and calm turquoise waters. When am looking for a more peaceful relaxing day I will choose Morne Rouge on a weekday.

And if you have small children, then this beach is probably one of your safest choices among all the Grenada Beaches. Morne Rouge Bay is sheltered, so the waves are often quite calm.

3. Magazine Beach

Another beautiful beach on Grenada’s Southwestern coast.

Magazine Beach, is is the home of the Rex Grenadian Hotel and the Aquarium Restaurant. The beach is about one mile of white sand, and clear blue waters.

Great food and drinks from Aquarium Restaurant, kayaking, and snorkeling all accentuate a fun day on this Grenada beach. Find out why Sunday is one of the best days to spend on this beach.

4. Pink Gin Beach

This one lies almost at the very tip of the island, behind the hill overlooking Point Salines International Airport.

Pink Gin Beach, is even more secluded than Morne Rouge Beach. Pinkish sand, pristine waters and a picturesque view of St. George welcomes you at Pink Gin Beach.

Add to that, the convenience of the La Source Hotel, the opportunity for all sorts of water sports; or just chill out and relax; and it’s easy to see why Pink Gin Beach is a top favorite.

5. Bathway Beach

A beautiful strip of white sand beach in the north of the island.

If you are looking for action … people, food, drinks, and just good times then Bathway beach on a Grenada holiday is the one place to be.

As a young boy growing up, nothing could compare to a day on Grand Anse Beach. I love that beach … the sand goes forever in both directions, and with the exception of public holidays, grand anse beach is never crowded … it feels like it’s all mine.

My friends and I practically lived in the water, emerging only for snacks, or to play in the warm sand.

At the end of the day our fingers and lips will be wilted from the exposure, but to us it was always worth it.

Grand Anse beach can have that effect on you … it makes kids feel at home, and adults feel like kids again.

Choosing the Best Spot

With two miles of perfect white sand there is something for everyone. You can sub divide grand anse beach in three parts: The South Side, The Park Side, The North Side, each is as lovely as the other but suit different tastes.

1. The South Side

   

   Stroll down to the south end and you are sure to see a few couples enjoying the scenery and each others company.

   Insert yourself in these beach chairs. The further south you go on grand anse beach the more secluded it gets.

   The famous and pricey Spice Island Inn Resort is located on this side, so it is normal to see guests enjoying the beach. But it is still the quietest, and most private part of Grand Anse Beach.

   
   

2. The Park Side

   Use the Camahogne Park entrance to get to The Park Side. Here’s a few things about this part the beach:

   

   • Most accessible entry point if you are not driving. The bus stop is a 3 minute stroll away.
   • Most convenient parking
   • It’s the middle of the beach … easy to go South Side or North Side from here
   • Favorite spot of the Locals
   • Shopping Mall right across the street

   Here is a shot of the capital St George across the waters in the distance, from directly in front of the Park Side entrance.

   This is one of the things that make Grand Anse beach so special … the view of the green rolling hills and the back drop of the city.

3. The North Side

   Further up on the North side you will find mainly hotel guests soaking up the Grenadian sunshine. This side of Grand Anse Beach can be filed with beach chairs and tourists when several cruise ships are in port.

   The vendors market is also on the this side of the Grand Anse beach. There you can do some shopping for local crafts, spices and apparel, that make great gifts. So even if you prefer the Park Side or South Side, you might want to swing by the vendors market and see what tickles your fancy.

Braids, Serenade and Straw Hats …

Wherever you might be on the beach expect a kind vendor or two to come by and offer to braid your hair, serenade you with local calypso, or maybe make you an authentic coconut straw hat on the spot. Its all part of the Grand Anse experience. If you are not interested a polite no thank you is normally enough to get the vendor to move along.

La Sagesse Nature Centre and La Sagesse Beach

I had heard the buzz about La Sagesse Nature Centre on La Sagesse Beach for some time, and naturally wanted to see for myself what the deal was. So on one of my island tour I decided to stop in at take a look. Am glad I did.

La Sagesse Nature Centre not the place for every visitor. And Jerry Rappaport who run operations at La Sagesse Nature Centre will gladly let you know that. If you need more than your companion, great food, and the beach to be turned on, then your best bet is to remain in the more populus Grand Anse area at oneof the other hotels.

La Sagese Natuere Centere on La Sagesse beach is for those of us that just want to getaway. Those of us who don’t need any external trappings to have a good time. Those of us who just want to reconnect with that special someone, or take a relationship to the next level.

I can tell you from what I experience at La Sagesse Nature Centre you will get all those things. When I arrived I stepped onto the beach to take some photos, and got the distinct feeling that I was intruding. And you know what? Am sure I was. There were about 6 individuals on beach chairs in the shade of the coconut trees that line La Sagesse beach. Some were sunbathing, some were reading, and the others just absorbing the place.

La Sagesse Beach was named One of the 10 best beaches in the Caribbean” by Travel & Leisure in 2002.

Now you would think that a top 10 caribbean beach like La Sagesse beach will be crowded, right? Well you will be wrong.

La Sagesse beach is not a very popular beach among Grenadians. It’s out of their way. And just too boring for most locals.Grand Anse and Bathway are always their favorite choices. It’s ironic that the very thing that makes La Saggesse beach popular for us (the seclusion) … makes it unpopular with most locals.

Here’s what you can expect:

• On weekends you will see a few locals from nearby villages.
• On public holidays and special events you can expect to see much more … but these are rare
• On weekdays you will hardly ever see locals on that beach … I saw none while I was there.

The few times that you do run into a local couple on La Sagesse beach you can be certan that their motive for being there is the same as yours … they do not want to be seen nor disturbed.

What else will youl find at La Sagesse Nature Centre and La Sagesse Beach?

The gournds are well kept and lovely. As we drove down the narrow bumpy road to get there, it was plain to see why it was called La Sagesse Nature Centre.

Sounds of birds, beautiful flowers and plants abound everywhere. I heard there are hiking trails, but we did not get a chance to explore them.

The Restaurant

La Sagesse Nature Centre has one of the best seafood restaurants in Grenada according to the Boston Globe. Jerry suggests you call ahead of time so the chef knows exactly what to prepare and for how many.

Grenada Beaches … What really happened on Levera Beach?

Of the many popular Grenada Beaches, Levera Beach was the one that I had never visited. It’s only 5 minutes drive from Bathway Beach, so I had our tour guide make this one of our stops. But sadly our visit was cut short.

When we pulled up there was absolutely no one to be seen anywhere. It was totally deserted, we had all of Levera Beach to ourselves. And this beach is beautiful.

Except for the few fishing boats, and the footprints on the sand you will think this beach was untouched.

The view of the cone shaped sugarloaf island, is incredible. And it looks like someone lives on it. I wonder what life is like out there.

And then it happened …

Levera Beach is a santuary for turtles, and other wildlife. We decide to walk over to the logoon area to explore. We were about 100 metres away from our SUV when I heard an alarm.

At the same time a speed boat was passing by, so the others all indicated that it was not the SUV alarm.

But a minute later I heard the alarm again, and by this time our tour guide agreed with me, and begun runnig towards the SUV.

I soon joined him in pursuit. And caught up with him right at the SUV. He got there just in time to see someone dissapearing into the bushes. The SUV appeared intact and the doors were all still locked. But no longer feeling safe, we signalled to the others to join us.

While we were leaving, Ryian discovered that she was without her purse. In it was her Visa Buxx card, and her Tiffany Braclet given to her by her grand dad.

She was certain that it was on the back seat next to the window. After much searching we concluded that the intruder must have gotten to the purse through the back window, which was not all the way up.

On our way into Levera Beach we did pass two guys loading a blue pickup truck. Could they be the culprits?

We returned to Bathway Beach, and told the vendors what had happen. They indicated that there is only one road out, and that the guys in the pickup were still back there.

They also told us that this was not the first incident of its kind where those same guys were suspected.

Our guide got in touch with one of his police friends about what had happened. We continued on with our tour, and counted the purse as lost. When we got home we called back to the US and cancelled the Visa card.

Lessons learned …

So yet again, I was denied the opportunity to explore Levera Beach fully. It’s a beautiful place, and I plan on visit again.

Here’s my advice for anyone thinking about visting this beach:

• Do not go there alone. Groups are best.
• Make sure doors are locked, and windows rolled all the way up.
• Keep items secured in trunk
• Pay attention to your surrondings, leave if you see any shady looking individuals
• It’s better if there are also other folks enjoying the beach
• Leave someone close to your car if others choose to take walks
