Here’s what one reader from Germany had to say about Patrick’s Homestyle Restaurant:

A small pink and violet house at Lagoon Road, just opposite the entrance to Port Louis. There isn’t any menu, they will serve you with a lot of small plates with different local food like Fishcake, Breadfruit Salad, Pork in Ginger, Crab Salad etc.. And Patrick is a very charming, fun and special person!

I’ve never been to Patrick’s but that review is typical of what I’ve heard about The Place and The Man. The man is Patrick Levine, and from all reports he is an awesome chef, and very gracious host. I’ve heard him called eccentric, charming, colorful, personable, and flamboyant to name a few. Sure sounds like he is as interesting as the food he serves.

What really distinguishes Patrick’s from other Grenada Restaurants is variety. For about US$23 you get to taste 20 different Grenadian dishes. You probably won’t find that anywhere else on the island.

Patrick’s Restaurant is located in the Lagoon Road. If you are coming from Grand Anse as you go pass the entrance to Port Louis Marina look for Patrick’s on your right.

Best to just call and get specific directions and also to let them know how may will be in your party. Here’s the number: 473-440-0364

Have you sampled Patrick’s delightful treats? What did you like (not like)? Leave us a comment below.

After a morning of much discussion about what would be our first activity in Grenada, we decided to go snorkeling. I’d never thought a non swimmer like myself would be snorkeling in Grenada.

Snorkeling in Grenada with Native Spirit Scuba

We chose Native Spirit Scuba on Grand Anse beach to do our snorkeling. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner Adrian and 2 of his divers. We filled out the necessary waivers etc, and then we were fitted for fins, and life jackets. We hopped on June, the dive boat, and headed up the western coast. We passed Pandy Beach, Port Louis Marina and took a tour around the inner harbor and Carenage. They were all beautiful.

Flamingo Bay

Our first destination was Flamingo Bay. Dozens of Sergeant Major fishes surfaced as we threw pieces of bread into the water. Although I had on a life jacket when I got into the water I panicked. Shamar our trusted guide now seeing the magnitude of my fear immediately came to my assistance.

He calmly talked to me and was able to convince me to let go of the ladder on the side of the boat. He gently took me out into the water talking to me the entire time and was able to get me to relax and follow his instructions. I began to breathe and kick as instructed… low and behold we were over 150 feet away from the boat. I was constantly reassured, that I could do it. I couldn’t believe it… I did it!
There were so many beautiful fishes of all shapes, sizes and color. I was not able to see the true beauty of the corals because the water was a little murky.

The most awesome part was the feeding frenzy that took place right around us by the the Sergeant Majors. To feel the fishes against your skin was a little icky but nonetheless a fantastic experience at the same time.

Under Water Sculpture Park

The next stop was the world’s first Under Water Sculpture Park at Molinere. I again climbed into the water but this time it was a smoother transition. The water was very cold. I hate it when it’s cold so I was even more uncomfortable for a short while.

Shamar guided me to view all the sculptures. My favorites were the 26 life sized children holding hands while facing outwards, and the child on a bike. The rough sea had shifted some of the sculptures out of place but they were breathtaking. Surprisingly I continued to snorkel on my own and witnessed even more underwater beauty.

Native Spirit Scuba Rocks!!

My daughter with Shamar and Cheesy (Native Spirit) in background

I can not begin to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Shamar. I can’t begin to tell you how it felt to be at ease in the sea. Even so much as to gain the confidence to snorkel alone. The Native Spirit Scuba ‘crew’ are fabulous! The snacks on board were delicious and rum punch even better. This is a 5 star recommendation. Adrian, and his guys are the best!

On your next Grenada Vacation try Sea Port in Lagoon Road, St. George’s. If the food is as good as Amanda from London says it is, then I think we are all in for a delightful treat.

Here’s what Amanda said about Sea Port Restaurant:

Stewed chicken so good I nearly licked my plate. A new eatery with some starter hitches i.e. good food runs out fast! Huge video wall, Grenada ice cream and did I mention the excellent stewed chicken with callaloo, coo coo …. stop dribbling!

The Lagoon Road area is also home to the Port Louis Marina and Victory Bar. A multi-million dollar project that continues to transform St. George’s. I can’t wait to see the finished product. My bet is that the entire Marina, and the already Picturesque Carenage will become a real hot spot for Grenada travelers and locals alike.

Another favorite Grenada Restaurant you can try in the Lagoon Rd. Community is Tropicana Restaurant.

Has anyone else tried Sea Port, Tropicana or the Port Louis Victory Bar and Grill? If so, then Write a Comment and tell us about it.

I was not overly impressed with the Victory Bar at Port Louis Marina when I visited, but that might have more to do with the time I visited than with the place itself. I hooked up with my old high school crew one week night and we went there for drinks.

Some of the guys taking a drink

Maybe going there on a week night was not such a good idea. I normally like things to be hopping. Not too crowded, but just enough folks, and chatter to add some life to the place if you know what I mean. A little music doesn’t hurt either.

Well it was far from lively. But that certainly did not stop us from having an awesome time. All you need are cold Carib Beers, some food from their grill, good friends, and you’re set.

Both the bar, and it’s surroundings are beautiful, even at night that stood out. I can only imagine what it must look like in daylight. I think you will be impressed. The Victory Bar is part of the spectacular Port Louis, a multi-million dollar luxury resort and Marina, that’s the brainchild of British Entrepreneur Peter De Savary.

See those red roofs?… that’s where we were. I took this shot from Fort George

The bar sits on the edge of the lovely marina, in the Lagoon Rd community. It’s right off the main road you travel from Grand Anse to St. George’s, so it’s easy to find.

No doubt as the Port Louis brand spread, I expect this area to become very popular.

A quick run down on some other observations:

Prices are a tad bit steep, so keep that in mind.

Mens restroom was clean, as was the entire the bar, that’s always good

No complaints about the staff.

I did not eat but the guys enjoyed the food from the Grill

Mounted flat screen TV with international sports channels

So basically the Victory Bar has all the markings of a fun place, it was just our luck, maybe, that we went there on a very slow night. I plan to give them a second shot, maybe for a mid afternoon snack, lunch, or on a weekend.

How about you? Had a good experience at the Victory Bar?… Tell us about it.
