The American Eagle flight from Grenada to Puerto Rico is good for taking Aerial Photos of Grenada. Here are a few pictures taken on one of those flights. It includes the popular and pricey south eastern/western neighborhoods like True Blue, Lance Aux E’pines, Fort Juedy, Westerhall . The later aerial photos show St. George’s and Gouyave area.

The fries are excellent as well as the burger. The dish also comes with a tropical fruit on the side which is a nice twist! Other good dining is definitely La Luna hotel.

Enjoying Mahi Mahi with friends at True Blue Restaurant

True Blue Bay provides the elegant “touristy” environment for folks from the metropolitan world and also the “back home” allure for Caribbean natives. It is, in a nutshell, the essence of paradise. I enjoyed a leisurely luncheon in the True Blue Bay Restaurant along with some friends on a balmy Friday afternoon. Arriving after 1:30, we occupied one of the 20+ empty tables and shared the patio dining area with only eight other diners as we overlooked the water and the picturesque hills in the distance.

The food options were varied with a discernible bias towards fish and seafood. We all selected fish (the catch of the day was either king fish or Mahi Mahi), and our table chose broiled over the other options of fried or grilled.

My broiled fish was excellent! It was delicately spiced with a butter sauce and served with rice and local vegetable. The service was efficient; and the prices were reasonable. Lunch and cocktail beverages for four cost approximately $55 US.

The gentle breeze from the sea lent a tranquil effervescence to the atmosphere, and the gentle splash of the waves reinforced the aura of paradise. The experience was truly Grenada at its natural best. My only problem was the nuisance of some pesky birds…but for most normal folks that would be an environmental enhancement…but I hate birds!

Best Grilled Swordfish Ever

Yes, De Big Fish Restaurant in True Blue was a last minute decision. It was almost closing time on a weekday when we got there, and there were only two other tables occupied. I had just hooked up with my old high school buddies, and we had a lot of catching up to do.

When you walk into De Big Fish Restaurant look for De Big Fish hanging on the wall above the bar … a signature touch.

This is one Grenada Restaurant and Bar that literally sits on the water … but no worries about getting washed away by a big wave because De Big Fish sits on the clam waters of True blue Bay.

The setting is casual, and relaxing. The perfect place to catch up with friends, and knock back a few local Carib beers, or your favorite beverage.

How about that Swordfish?

When it was time to order I had the Swordfish, and it was out of this world. One of the best meals I had my entire vacation (please don’t tell Mom). Every time I had sword fish before it was always slightly overdone, and left bits and pieces stuck between my teeth. Not so here, De Big Fish Restaurant’s Swordfish just melted away in my mouth. You gotta try it.

My friends were also all pleased with their orders, but I can’t say I that remembered what they ordered … I was totally preoccupied with my swordfish.

Where’s De Big Fish?

I told you … just look above the bar and you will find it. Oh you meant: How to get to De Big Fish Restaurant? Thats easy, it’s in True Blue. If you are coming from Grand Anse or Lance Aux Pines or any place north of True Blue:

• just head towards the airport direction,
• pass the Grenada Breweries (Carib Beer Factory) on your right and make a left into True Blue.
• Continue for less than a minute and De Big Fish Restaurant is on your left next to the Marina and Coast Guard station.

True Blue Restaurant is located at the True Blue bay resort in True Blue. That’s a whole lot of True Blues and one of the best of all Grenada Restaurants.

I had heard a lot about True Blue Restaurant, but never got the opportunity to eat there until I visited some Grenada Sailing enthusiasts that operate out of True Blue Bay resort.

True Blue Restaurant is built on the lovely True Blue Bay (obviously). The bay is gorgeous; it’s decorated with pretty yachts and the St. Georges University sits on the hill across from the Marina.

Dodgy Dock Restaurant and Lounge Bar

At True Blue Bay Resort a new addition is the Dodgy Dock Restaurant and Lounge Bar. That’s where I had lunch.

The Dodgy Dock Restaurant is famous for lunch; awesome cocktails; happy hour; and it’s frequented by guests, sailors, and locals… a nice mix.

The True Blue Restaurant itself was still closed when I got there, and I think it might only open for dinner. Same great food like Dodgy Dock restaurant but a little ‘finer’ dining. Dodgy Dock Restaurant is more relaxed, causal, open, and to me looks like more fun.

Which one you choose, I guess it depends on the mood you are in, who you are with, and what time of day. Give them a call to see what’s open and what’s serving.

What’s Cooking?

Speaking of “what’s serving?”, the menu and activities at True Blue and Dodgy Dock restaurants is dynamic. Every night is different, whether it’s Grenadian night, Curry night, Mexican night or some other night you’re bound to find one to fit your fancy.

My meal was tasty, and the rum punch awesome. But most of all I just enjoyed the atmosphere chilling out at Dodgy Dock. I definitely recommend you give True Blue Restaurant (and Dodgy Dock Restaurant) a visit, its one of the loveliest of all Grenada Restaurants.to relax and enjoy a good meal.

The True Blue Neighborhood especially beyond the resort is one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Grenada (say expensive).
