A Grenada Villa Vacation

I’m tempted to call this Grenada Villa a steal, but that would be overstating it a bit… so how about if we settle for quite affordable? Sounds more reasonable? Great!

But what if I told you that Herons Flight is located in Westerhal Point, one of the most expensive and sought after neighborhoods in Grenada? Well, I’ll expect that you just might stop taking me serious… after all how can an affordable Grenada Villa possibly exist in a posh gated residential development like Westerhall Point?

That’s why I think Herons Flight is such a big deal, (maybe even a steal) … read on and see for yourself.

Picture This

You on the verandah with your favorite beverage in hand watching the sunset. An inviting pooland gazebo to your left. Landscaped grounds punctuated with flowers and palm trees, sloping downwards to a secluded beach. And to top it off, a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean with the tantalizing smell and taste of surf in the air. That my friend is the atmosphere that awaits you at the Grenada Villa called Herons Flight.

Remember what I said about Herons Flight being a gated residential community? Well, that means you won’t see any other tourist scurrying about. You can expect a very tranquil atmostphere, interrupted only by the birds, breeze, or breaking waves in the background.

Another thing I found striking about this Grenada Villa is that almost everywhere you look, you see accents that remind you of the love and attention the owners put into it this Grenada Vlla.

What follows now is a description of the rooms, amenities, and rates at the Herons Flight Grenada Villa.

Security

First, you should know that Grenada is the last place in the Caribbean that you should worry about crime. But that being said you always need to take precautions to be sure that you will feel safe in any Grenada Villa. It helps a lot that Herons Flight is tucked away in a gated community with it’s own private security. And added to that the villa itself is equipped with an alarm system.

The Bedrooms

There are three bedrooms at Herons Flight. Each bedroom is spacious and exudes the comfort you expect in your home away from home. You also enjoy the added privacy and convenience of having your own bathroom, since they are all en suite. Here are some pictures of the bedrooms.

is perfect for the kids or adult alike. It has two twin
beds and opens into a flower-filled mini courtyard.

June 1st – November 30th

• 1 – 2 guests (1 bedroom): $1750 per week
• 3 – 4 guests (2 bedroom): $2250 per week
• 5 – 6 guests (3 bedrooms): $2550 per week

December 1st – May 31st

• 1 – 2 guests (1 bedroom): $2150 per week
• 3 – 4 guests (2 bedroom): $2750 per week
• 5 – 6 guests (3 bedrooms): $3150 per week

Christmas and New Year ( Between December 19th and January 9th )

• US$2,450 per week for 2 guests maximum
• US$3,150 per week for 4 guests maximum
• US$3,550 per week for 6 guests maximum

Rates include maid and laundry services five days a week without any additional service charge, but staff gratuities are welcomed at guests’ discretion.

Do any of these describe you?

If any of the above describes you then Olga’s in Stadium View (formerly Darbeau) might just be the perfect place for you.

Olga’s is run and operated by… you guessed it: Olga better known as Ms. Olga. It’s an air conditioned 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment. There is Cable TV and I think wireless Internet will soon be installed. So think of Olga’s like a Grenada Bed and Breakfast… Except…

Ms. Olga is not in the business of serving Breakfast, so she did the next best thing. She installed a full kitchen, which includes stove, refrigerator, microwave, pots, pans and cooking utensils. So walk with your chef hat and Cook On!! The supermarket is nearby, and if that does not work for you, there are lots of good Grenada Restaurants to sample.

Remote Controlled Air Conditioning Unit

The apartment sits on a hill like most of the village houses. It gives you a magnificent view of the outer harbor, the southern tip of Grenada, and the National Stadium. Step onto the veranda and that’s the view that greets you each day.

You also have a private driveway for your rental car, but being on a hill it takes some skill to navigate. So unless you are used to hilly terrains you might be better off parking at the foot of the hill.

Olga’s – the first level will be your quaters

Olga’s sits in a little tropical garden with lovely Grenada
flowers. If you are lucky, you just might catch the bananas,
papaya, grapefruit, or coconut reeady for the taking

Driveway … a little on the tight side, but more than adequate
for a large 4X4 if you have the skill to get it in.

You can find a bakery and supermarket over there.
It’s an easy 10 minute stroll.

You and the Village Life

I must admit that I’m a little bias abourt the village of Darbeau since I grew up there. It’s a typical Grenada village with mostly polite, friendly folks, so if you like to mingle with locals you will feel very much at home.

Cricket & Soccer

Olga’s is a favorite among cricket fans travelling with their teams, be it Windies, Aussies or whomever. They all love the very close proximity to the Grenada National Stadium. It’s literally a 2 minitue walk to the grounds of the Stadium… and if the stands were not as high you can see the entire match from your veranda.

Darbeau has produced numerous national football (soccer) stars over the years, including shalrie Joseph who now plays in the US MLS league for New England Revolution. So soccer (football) is big in Darbeau, and the surrounding villages. You most definitely will see the guys out ‘running’ a game, and if you bring your gears (and skills) they will definitely welcome you.

The same goes for a game of cricket.

Transport

The buses pick you up and drop you off right at Olga’s gate. It’s a 5 minute ride by bus or car to St. George’s; or an easy 15 minutes walk while enjoying the sites along the way. Once in St. George’s you can catch another bus to anywhere in Grenada.
