  1. Good morning,

We are coming to visit you next week!!!! What is the best money to bring EC or US..we are Canadian, I guess you do not take our money. Do most stores etc. take US or should I order EC from our bank to bring.

    Kind Regards,

    Beth

    1. Hi Beth,
As with most things it depends. Here is what I do. I use the ATM whenever I need cash, instead of bring along a pile of $US or $EC currency with me. Yes it cost me a little more the the ATM fees and all but to me it’s less of a hassle and I feel safer knowing that I do not have a pile of money stashed in my hotel room or elsewhere.

You Canada ATM card will work just fine at all the ATMs in Grenada. Also some your bank may have a relationship with some of the banks in Grenada where you won’t incur any additional fees on withdraws. For example, if your bank is say Bank of America and in Grenada you use a Scotia Bank ATM then you incur no fees.

Another option is to carry some US$ with you. Yes, all vendors and establishments will accept $US but however you may lose close to 15 – 20 cents on the dollar.

Bottom line: You can use the ATMs in Grenada just as you do back in Canada or US to get $EC when you need it. It’s fast, easy and convenient. There are numerous ATMs around the major areas with 24 hour access. I do recommend that on travel day you come with enough US$ in case you need a cab, bite to eat on arrival, etc ….especially if you are arriving late at night, etc.

Hope this helps. Enjoy The Spice Isle…and write back to tell us how you liked it

  2. Hello, Gooch,

Since you love Grenada I thought you should know that there’s a lovely new song about Grenada. The song is called, ‘The Grenada Song’ by vocalist Gabrielle MonDesire.

    Enjoy
